Kalafina 「Kimi ga Hikari ni Kaete Yuku (You Turn It All to Light)/

Within a warm wind,
Somebody is calling out;
Wishing to hold dear the darkness,
The dawn begins;
Tomorrow, certainly,
Upon a pristine sky,
A rainbow of silver shall surely hang;
You take scenery as sorrowful as this
And you turn it all to light;
Even these small teardrops
Fall like jewels
Towards the future;
There are secrets, within this heart,
Yet, still, I want to touch it,
And if I were to brush against it, it might go and break;
A hesitancy which spirals on towards its centre;1
Beyond the bridge, with a river threading through,
Tomorrow, certainly……
With the midday noon,
Spring surely does smell so deeply, so sweetly;
Since waking from a dream,
What is it that a person searches for?
To a world as brilliant as this,
You lead me:
And, when still dazzled by its radiance,
Hold me so gently;
You take my transient faith
And you turn it all to light,
And the tears that come with waking
Fall like jewels
Towards the future

Footnotes

1. Given the abstract imagery and the choice of 「へ」 as a particle over 「に」, where 「へ」 emphasises the ongoing journey rather than the destination, I interpret this line as a metaphor: the hesitancy displayed is descending, like a spiral, towards an inevitable climax.
